The New Racism

Her leaders judge for a bribe,
her priests teach for a price,
and her prophets tell fortunes for money.
Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say,
“Is not the Lord among us?
No disaster will come upon us.”

- Micah 3:11

Old racism said, “You can’t sit at our counter.”

Tomorrow’s racism says, “Of course you can eat here.”

Then it moves the diner behind a gate, changes the access code, and gives tax breaks rewarding members of private breakfast clubs.

Inspired by The Supreme Court’s gutting the Voting Rights Act

While The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act, it failed to account that tomorrow’s racism does not bar a seat at the counter; it evolves to move the diner.
